Alicia Keys’ Met Gala Get Ready Mix

What does a musician listen to while preparing for one of the biggest nights in fashion?  On the first Monday in May, as all the Upper East Side hotel rooms swelled with glitz, hairspray, and a good dose of camp, Alicia Keys settled into her suite at the Carlyle Hotel and tuned into the soulful beats of Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Childish Gambino.   Later in the night, after the Gala wrapped up, Alicia switched out of her Grace Jones-inspired sequin and tulle gown and into the Spring 2019 polka dot smocked crop top with palazzo pant, while swaying to the dulcet tones of Jones’ La Vie in Rose.
