Every Carolina Herrera bride has a story to tell. This week’s bride, writer and actor Frankie Shaw of SMILF acclaim, has the ultimate meet cute tale. Married in northern California, Frankie wore the Claudette gown from the Carolina Herrera bridal collection.
How they met: We first saw each other at a Silver Lake coffee shop called Casbah Cafe. I was with my best friend, Brie, and Zach was sitting at a different table, alone. I saw him and I said to Brie, “Oh I love him.” And she looked at somebody else and said, “What about him?” And I said, “No, I like that sweet-faced boy over there.” And just as I was leaving, he waved to me. We ran into each other one week later, at The Moth Storytelling hour. He was sitting right in front of me! So we exchanged information; a week later we went on a date. The rest is history.
About the wedding: It was an August wedding in Sonoma, California. There were 215 guests. We had everybody stay on the property at Dawn Ranch, in Guernevilla, California for the weekend-long event. On Friday night, we held a Moth Storytelling-inspired event where people came to the stage and told stories. As for the ceremony, we wrote our vows and they were really long! We’re both writers, so our vows were twenty-minutes each. We even wrote our vows on Final Draft, which is a software for script-writing. It’s ridiculous, but it’s true. My son, Isaac, served as the best man and he also walked me down the aisle. We also had a New Orleans-style band and a second line that brought us down to the dance floor.
Happiest wedding memory: Definitely the vows. Just hearing the way that Zach thought about our relationship and what he was promising to me… that was very moving. Also, when my son walked me down the aisle. I took a moment to really look at everyone who was there.
About the dress: It was the Claudette, a beautiful classic lace dress. My two bridesmaids, Liz Destro and Rachel Webber, took me to all the bridal stores and we landed at Carolina Herrera. As soon as I put it on, I knew it was the most perfect dress. It was simple and classic with lace, and I knew Zach would love it.
