Carolina Herrera Introduces “Mother and Child” by Claiborne Swanson Frank

Just in time for Mother’s Day, author and photographer Claiborne Swanson Frank has released her new book of photographs, Mother and Child.  Featuring 70 iconic families from around the globe, Mother and Child turns the lens on celebrated names ranging from Patti Hensen, Aerin Lauder, to the Carolina Herrera family.  Adding her own distinct touch, Mrs. Herrera introduced the series with her own introductory words:

“A mother is everything. Starting with the creation of life and passing through the different stages of development: the protection, the feeding, the love and the teachings, which we call civilization. It is through the mother’s hands that a child becomes a man or a woman.
So when Claiborne told me about the idea for her new book, I was immediately captivated, and this fascination only grew after I saw the magical portraits she captured: 70 families portrayed in a mix of classic and candid images, all the subjects captured in their natural environment.
The beauty not only lies in the images themselves, but in what they represent: the unbreakable bond between a mother and a child, and the beauty that is motherhood.”
