The bold spirit of Manhattan inspired creative director Wes Gordon to design a sweeping collection of super bloom silhouettes, a reimagined flagship townhouse and a diner-themed party with the playful polish of old-New York. And it all took place on one single, vibrant day. Monday, September 9th attracted family, friends, and supporters from around the globe to gather for celebrations amid botanical gardens and monumental architecture.
The morning began with a rush of glamour, as documented by Good Girl Karlie Kloss as she chose her striking Carolina Red look for the day’s events from backstage to front row, starting downtown. The Gardens of the Battery, a perennial oasis of centuries-old flora, served as a tranquil setting to debut the Spring 2020 collection inspired by the botanical phenomenon of the Californian super bloom. Kloss joined Carolina Herrera and friends of the House to celebrate Wes Gordon’s beautiful silhouettes, saturated colors and exquisite chiffons.
Onto the Upper East Side, for the decadent global flagship re-opening of 954 Madison Avenue, commemorated with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. The historic Carolina Herrera townhouse has undergone a magnificent renovation, designed by Gordon and Studio Mellone, a gorgeous architectural embodiment of the evolving direction of the House inspired by decades of glamorous femininity and joy.
Gordon led guests around the corner, where he completely took over Three Guys diner, one of Carolina Herrera’s favorite places in the city, to host the grand finale of the day: Carolina’s Diner. The brilliant day of over-the-top creativity, from sweeping tulles to extraordinary interiors, appropriately ended with an imaginative old-world diner experience complete with beautifully wrapped french fries, traditional diner fare, and custom pink and black uniforms that exuded Gordon’s joyfully fun vision. Friends of the House joined the festivities, enthralled by a surprise performance from Drag Race superstar Valentina––Karlie Kloss, Sabrina Elba, Lili Buffet, Aerin Lauder, Jenny Walton, and Indre Rockefeller to name a few. DJ Henri Bergmann kept guests dancing through the early hours, completing a vibrantly dynamic day reflective of New York’s beauty, mystery, allure, and unique energy.
