Every season begins with an idea and a bit of magic. Whether it’s in a look’s first sketch or in the sharp points of a pattern cutter’s scissors, magic unfolds in the House of Herrera every day. Today we invite you to join us as we create the Resort 2019 Collection: join us inside the atelier, at our fittings, and on the set of our Resort lookbook. Listen to the hum of the seamstresses machines as they churn steam onto fabric, turn patterns into looks, and eventually transform a few wooden blocks into our Palm Springs set. Each whistle, buzz, and whirr was captured as we prepared and photographed the collection – they’re the subtle sounds of the House of Herrera and the beat that we follow each day.
Born out of the dream of Palm Springs and the futurist style of 1960s California, the Carolina Herrera New York Resort 2019 Collection emerged as a collection of feminine energy, bold color-blocking, and an unexpected ease. Enchanted by the fantasy of poolside desert living, this collection is filled with unexpected combinations, playfulness, and femininity, which was further translated on set with Valencia oranges, mid-century modern furniture, and props that evoked the Coachella Valley. Amid the prop cacti and groggily spinning oranges, models Gisele Fox, Jing Wen, and Denya Altevers worked with creative director Wes Gordon and photographer Dario Catellani to present a fresh and joyful feeling.
