Alexandra Rodman and Jeff Marr Jr. were married on September 17th, 2016 at the Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham, Massachusetts. Overlooking the sea, the ceremony’s idyllic backdrop included a gorgeous coastline, sandbar and fishing boats – encapsulating the scene where Jeff had first proposed. The reception granted guests with a stunning panoramic view of the coast, completed with cocktails at sunset. Carolina Herrera’s Josefina gown, fashioned with soft tulle and silk appliques, proved ideal for the effortlessly elegant theme. The classic, yet bi-cultural and heartfelt reception teemed with high energy and included a performance by the bride’s brother and artwork by the bride’s grandmother to top off the wedding’s familial aesthetic.
HOW DID YOU GET ENGAGED?
Jeff had been planning to propose on a beach near my parent’s house all week and my parents were in on the plan. On this rainy morning, I woke up sick as a dog, nose red from using tissues. As the rain started to clear, Jeff suggested to spending the rest of the afternoon at the beach to walk or read, given that the summer was coming to an end. I didn’t really understand why he wanted to go on a cloudy day, but I packed up my laptop and threw a beach bag together. We got to the beach and before sitting down to relax, we began skipping some rocks. I turned away from where we were standing, searching the sand saying, “I need a better rock” and unwittingly teed him up. By the time I turned around, he was on his knee. I was completely surprised! Afterwards, in all his heroic glory, Jeff explained that he had chosen the spot because it was familiar and we could continue visiting over the course of our lives.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAROLINA HERRERA WEDDING DRESS.
When I heard that L’Elite was hosting a trunk show, I went for a visit with my now sister-in-law to get some inspiration. I never in my wildest dreams imagined finding ‘the dress’ that very day, but upon trying on the third dress, I was speechless. The Josefina dress was so beautiful – I felt like I was wearing a piece of art. I loved being able to have the full skirt for the beginning of the night and then taking it off to dance in the more sleek dress.
WHAT MADE YOU PICK THIS DRESS?
Carolina has always been one of my favorite designers, with her classic, clean, and feminine designs. I also love the fact that she is Venezuelan because my mother is from Venezuela and my whole family on that side still lives in Caracas. I grew up going to Venezuela twice a year and it has been an integral part of my identity and development. Having nearly 40 Venezuelan family members fly into Cape Cod for the wedding weekend was the best gift.
We wish Mr. and Mrs. Marr a lifetime of adventure!
